Federal 2.9-Inch Parrott Case-Shot Shell - Lower Portion

This lower portion to a Federal 2.9-inch Parrott case-shot shell was recovered in Rockingham County, VA and acquired directly from the digger. The shell's iron is stable, and several case-shot are visible and fixed in place in the bottom of the shell, as recovered. Its thick iron sabot is present. It weighs approximately 4.2 pounds and measures approximately 2.86 inches in diameter and 4-1/4 inches in length. It has been treated with electrolysis and paraffin so as to preserve the iron. There are no repairs. This Parrott case-shot shell portion will be an excellent educational tool or display piece for any artillery or general relic collection.
