Item: ExcavatedUS model 1861 .58 caliber rifle-musket socket bayonet.
Construction: Iron
Condition: Fair. Overall ground action is present but intact. The locking-ring with screw is present. The socket has some rust-through areas and four inches of the blade tip is thin from rusting. There are no repairs.
Comments: This bayonet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War weapon or general relic collection.
Recovered: Elkwood, VA which is a community situated 2.5 miles northeast of Brandy Station, VA.
Approximate size: 18 1/2 inches.
