Hidden and Unknown Bullet In Wood

SOLD

This hidden and unknown bullet in wood was recovered from New Kent County, Virginia and was acquired directly from the digger. The bullet is securely lodged within a chunk of wood but is not visible.  Due to the size and weight of the entire piece, along with the old dried light-weight wood, it would indicate that a .58 caliber size bullet is inside. The overall weight is slightly over 1-3/4 ounces and its overall size is approximately 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.  A .58 caliber bullet weighs approximately 1 ounce which would therefore make the weight of the wood approximately 3/4 ounces which would seem likely for the size and composition of this wood.  Personally for me, what is exciting about this relic is the unknown factor and I will leave it to its future caretaker to determine the truth, should they decide to.  This unknown bullet in wood will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet, battlefield or general relic collection.
