Bullet in Wood Possibility - Are you Willing to Take a Chance?

A Bullet in Wood Gamble

This piece of wood measures approximately 3-1/2 x 20-3/4 inches in width and length. It is approximately 1-1/2 inches at its thickest point. It was included in a large collection of excavated relics along with a few other bullets in wood, some with visible bullets and some not visible. It was acquired directly from the digger's family. The digger was local to the Charlottesville area and hunted primarily in the area of Trevilians, VA., though I cannot say with all certainty that this piece of wood was recovered there.

This piece of wood is the largest from the collection. In the middle at the thickest part, a Deus II metal detector displayed a reading of 85 when passing over the wood. The same reading was displayed when passing over a Civil War .58 caliber bullet. I believe the contents of the wood to be a bullet but will only know for sure, by gently carving away the wood at the detection point. And, if it is a bullet, what type will it be?

Click here to view a movie clip of a pin pointer locating the object in this piece of wood.

However, instead of me determining what is inside the wood, I will happily give that job to the buyer. Of course, the buyer may choose to leave it just the way it is, but if they do decide to unveil the interior contents, I will ask that the results are provided to me which I will share with all who visit this listing after the sale.

Finally, the buyer must understand, that there will be no refunds if in the event the contents are not to their liking, ie. the sale is final.

Note: If it doesn't sell within 30 days from the date of its listing (March 14, 2024), I will begin carving to determine the contents, at which time the price may increase, decrease, or stay the same.
