Originally published in 1957, the pages from this book shown in the additional images represent only a fraction of the 200 images sketches and other illustrations.

Printed on the inside rear flap of the dustcover is:

""Confederate Arms" depicts with factual descriptions and instructive illustrations a complete history of the numerous arms and accoutrement used by the Confederate soldier during the four long years of the war. Many heretofore unidentified and unknown items made and used by the soldier of the South have been literally dug from obscurity by the diligent and painstaking research of William A. Albaugh III and Edward N. Simmons in this combined effort."

"In this volume, the authors have prepared an extensive guide to almost everything the Confederate Soldier used, carried, handled or treasured in his long from Manassas to Appomattox. His cry is stilled, his battle-flag torn and his uniform of gray has faded. Only his Confederate arms remain to tell us that he marched into the hearts of his people forever."

This early Civil War reference book will be an excellent addition to any Civil War reference library.
