Confederate Army General Service Button

SOLD

Backmark: "S. BUCKLEY & CO / BIRMINGHAM" dm
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. This button has an even, smooth brown patina. There is a moderate push to the center of the face at the "S".  For reasons for which I cannot explain, there is a very thin layer of clear coating on a small area of the rear. It is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the very nice appearance of this button.  There are no cracks, breaks, repairs, or other pushes.
Comments: Included in the additional images of the button is an image of the digger's index card indicating, in most cases, the button's identification, assessment of condition, recovery date & location and other general information. In cases where there are discrepancies between the digger's description and Virginia Relic's description, Virginia Relic's description shall be deemed correct.
This example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
Recovered: May 19, 1984 Jericho Mill, North Anna River, VA
