Confederate Army Officer Button

SOLD

Backmark: "S & K / RIVET'D & SOLDER'D" dm with coat of arms.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 24 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, secure shank present, cracked yet complete. This well constructed button is solid with a dusty-green patina over glimmers of gilt.  There is a deep push to the front at the eagle's lower body and talons.  The rear is also pushed and has a crack running from the shank to the rim at the five o'çlock position visible in the image of the rear.  There are no repairs.
Comments: Included in the additional images of the button is an image of the digger's index card indicating, in most cases, the button's identification, assessment of condition, recovery date & location and other general information. In cases where there are discrepancies between the digger's description and Virginia Relic's description, Virginia Relic's description shall be deemed correct. While not a perfect specimen, this Confederate button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
Recovered: March 1990, south side of Old Creighton Road, Henrico County, VA.
