Confederate Frame Buckle

SOLD

This Confederate cast frame buckle is in multiple sections, is incomplete, and was recovered in the area of Greenwood, PA.  The three sections definitely fit together and were recovered by a Pennsylvania digger.  The buckle's adjustment bar with two fixed tongues is missing.  The brass has aged into a very pleasing green patina and the approximate width of the idle bar is 66 mm.  Please see the additional images a similar example of a complete buckle pictured in Mullinax's "Confederate Belt Buckles and Plates Expanded Addition" on page 95, as plate 165.  This Confederate cast brass frame buckle will be an excellent example to add to any excavated Civil War buckle or general relic collection.
