Item: Excavated Confederate New Austrian bullet for .577/.58 caliber rifle musket.
Condition: Excellent. The bullet has an overall white patina with minor surface chipping.
Comments: According to the Dean Thomas reference book, Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four, on page 206, item No. 328, these bullets were "fabriacted at the N.C. Institute for the Deaf & Dumb and the Blind". This New Austrian bullet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
Recovered: In the area of A.P. Hill's defense line in Hagerstown, MD.
Approximate size: .572 inch. diameter x .970 inch. length.
