Confederate Scabbard Throat

SOLD

This scabbard throat was part of a sword scabbard for swords produced by manufacturer Louis Froelich, owner and operator of the Confederate States Armory in Kenansville, NC. It was recovered by a local digger in the area of West Point, VA in King and Queen County. On the throat's top are the Roman numeral markings "XIIII" which are typical of some Froelich sword scabbards. The throat has a very pleasing green patina and measures approximately 1 x 1-3/4 inches at the rim top edge.  The top opening measures approximately 1-5/16 inch in length, 3/8 inch width at its widest point and nearly 1/4 inch at its narrowest point. This fine Confederate relic will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War sword or general relic collection.
