Eagle Breast Plate

SOLD

Item: Excavated US eagle breast plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Good, excavated. Its brass face has an awesome even brown patina and shows a detailed eagle, clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left.  The rear solder is nearly complete with some minor flaking and rust build up on the surface.  The two iron attachment belt loops are no longer present.  There are no cracks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown
Approximate diameter:  63 mm.
Comments:  This eagle breast plate will be an excellent display piece and addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
