Eagle Plate - Eastport, MS

Item: ExcavatedUS eagle plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill and iron wire loops. (loops no longer present)
Condition: Good, excavated. Its brass face has a very nice chocolate brown patina.  There is a rust bump just to the right of the eagle's beak but otherwise, no cracks, breaks, or repairs.  The rear shows some solder surface flaking, but is otherwise solid, and the two iron attachment loops are no longer present.  Printed in black marker is "Eastport Miss" and in gold marker the numerals "102".  The body of the plate has a slight concave bend likely from period use.
Comments: This eagle plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection. 
Recovered: Eastport, MS situated just east of Corinth, MS and northeast of Iuka , MS.
Approximate diameter: 64 mm.
