Eagle Plate

SOLD

This excavated eagle plate is in fair condition and, if you are looking for that just dug appearance, then this plate is for you. Its brass front, showing an eagle clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left, has a mixed dirty brown-green patina. There are two rust spots which are a result of the iron attachment loops, both now missing, bleeding through into the brass front. The rear has the solder backing which now has a pebbled surface. The plate was recovered in Chancellorsville, VA area, has no cracks, bends, or repairs and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection. Approx. 63 mm.
