Item: Federal "Bullseye" Canteen
Use: Water container
Approximate size: 7-3/4 diameter.
Condition: Fair, excavated. This seven-ring canteen is remarkably solid and was possibly lightly clear coated at some point so as to preserve the iron. It is dented on both sides with three visible holes on one. Two of the three strap holders are present with one only partially intact. Its pewter spout is present and is partially marked with the manufacturer's stamp of "HADDEN. PORTER & BOOTH. PHILa". Its stopper is no longer present. There are no repairs.
Recovered: Richmond, VA area.
