New York Militia - Pre 1830

Construction: Flat, one-piece,
Approximate size: 21 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. This well-made and handsome New York militia button has very nice detail with no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs
Recovered: Fauquier County, VA by the late Dennis Irvin during the late seventies into the early eighties. During that time Mr. Irvin hunted many Civil War sites, both union and confederate, in Fauquier and surrounding counties. A story of several of Mr. Irvin's major relic finds is recalled in a chapter from Howard Crouch's book, "Relic Hunter: The Field Account of Civil War Sites, Artifacts, and Hunting".
