Confederate Richmond Laboratory Merrill Carbine Bullet

SOLD

This Confederate Richmond Laboratory Merrill carbine bullet is in very good condition. It has a tan-brown patina with no surface chipping. This bullet has a solid base with one ring and a visible mold seam.  There is a very small dent on one side.  An example of this bullet can be found in the bullet reference book "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four" on page 191 as item 187 by Dean S. Thomas and also in "A Handbook of Civil War Bullets and Cartridges" on page 22 as item 92 by Jim and Dean Thomas. It measures approximately .548 x .84 inches These bullets are not regularly recovered, however this one was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it along Lee's retreat route in the area of Namozine Church, in Amelia County, VA. The battle of Namozine Church occurred on April 3, 1865 and was one of the last battles of the Civil War. This relic will be an excellent example to add to any Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
