Backmark: "PRESENTED TO GENERAL LAFAYETTE BY L. H &. SCOVILL . BUTTON MANUFACTURERS . WATERBURY CON"
Construction: Flat, one-piece.
Approximate size: 20 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. The patina of this button is a very nice toned appearance. One end of the shank has separated from the rear of the button but is still solidly attached. No bends, cracks, or repairs.
Comments: This Lafayette presentation button, strike of 1876 - Centennial Exhibition, Philadelphia, will be an excellent addition to any post-Civil War button collection.
