Rhode Island State Seal Staff Coat Button

SOLD

Item: Rhode Island State Seal Staff Coat Button
Backmark: "D. EVANS & CO. / ATTLEBORO MASS" dm
Construction: High convex, three-piece.
Approximate size: 22 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, secure shank present. This solid, heavily gilted button may be a water find as it shows heavy wear on both front and rear.  There is a slight push to the front center but otherwise, there are no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Near Cumberland Landing, New Kent County, VA
Comments: Included in the additional images of the button is an image of the digger's index card indicating, in most cases, the button's identification, assessment of condition, recovery date & location and other general information. In the unlikely event where there are discrepancies between the digger's description and Virginia Relic's description, Virginia Relic's description shall be deemed correct. This relic was acquired directly from the family of the now deceased digger who hunted Civil War trails, campsites, and battle sites throughout central Virginia for several decades.  It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
