Confederate Scabbard Throat

This heavy Confederate scabbard throat is crudely constructed of cast brass and is in good condition.  There appears to be the letter "V" etched into the top surface.  It measures approximately 5/8 in height, with a 1 inch rim width and a 1 3/4 inch rim length.  Its blade hole length is approximately 1 1/4 inch and is 5/16 inch at its widest point.  Recovered in the Petersburg, VA area, it has no cracks, breaks or repairs.  A similar example can be found in Howard Crouch's book "Civil War Artifacts" on page 83, item #1.  This throat will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry, sword, scabbard, or general relic collection.
