Item: .52 caliber Spencer carbine cartridge
Condition: Very good dropped condition. The nicely shaped bullet has a greyish-white patina with a bit of corrosion on one side where the bullet meets the brass cartridge. The brass cartridge casing has a green-brown patina and shows a small dent and some very minor freeze cracking in the same area below the corrosion. The cartridge is in overall solid condition, with no holes and no repairs.
Comments: This cartridge is not a "put-together" and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet, cartridge, or general relic collection.
Recovered: Savage's Station, VA.
Approximate size: .54 inch diameter x 1.69 inch length.
Reference: Thomas' RBTR Part Two, p. 384.
