State Wreath for Confederate Tongue and Wreath Belt Plate

SOLD

This excavated state wreath for Confederate tongue and wreath belt plate is in very good condition with the exception of its bent belt attachment loop which is bent inwards and slightly downward. The brass has very pleasing dusty green patina and there is a 1/4 incharea on the edge of the wreath where a bit of shiny brass is exposed likely due to a misplaced digging tool. There are a couple of other areas at the edge of the belt loop and on the rear, where there are traces of what I believe to be, gold gilt either exposed or showing just under the surface patina. Should you have a tongue that you wish to match to this wreath, I have included an image on the image enlargement page (click on thumbnail image to left) that shows the detailed approximate measurements in millimeters. This wreath, recovered Charles Town, WV, has no cracks, breaks, or repairs and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
