US Cartridge Box Plate

Item: Excavated US cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Fair, solid. Its brass front, with raised letters "US", has a rich green patina and a couple of rust bumps. While the rim is bent over in a couple of areas, the rear has all of its solder which is strong with no current flaking. One of the iron loops is missing with the other present but bent over nearly flat to the rear.
Comments: This solid box plate has a very nice looking patina and will display very nicely in any excavated Civil War relic collection.

Approximate size: 53 x 84 mm.
