US Ordnance Coat Button

Description: This US ordnance coat button shows crossed cannons with "U S" on a lined field under a flaming bomb.
Backmark: "U. S. / ORDNANCE CORPS" dm
Construction: Convex, three-piece.
Approximate size: 21 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. This button has a dark patina with the letter "U" on one cannon tube and the letter "S" on the other cannon tube.  There is some minor ground action but no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Comments:  Many of these US Ordnance buttons typically have a broken rim, but this example does not.  It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
