PC4538
Confederate Engineer Cuff Button  -  PRICE REDUCED

Backmark:  ". W. DOWLER . / SUPERIOR" dm
Construction:  High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size:  14 mm.
Condition:  Excellent, excavated, secure shank present.  This rarely recovered Confederate engineer cuff button, with its even chocolate brown patina, has just enough gilt to beautifully highlight the lined old English "Ë".  The backmark is very difficult to see but I have been able to determine that it is indeed a Dowler.  The button has no cracks, breaks, pushes, or repairs.
Recovered:  In the Richmond, VA area in the 1950 - 60's by local Virginia relic hunter, Jim Cullinan.  Jim was one of the early Civil War relic hunters that started out with a true "army mine detector" that actually required a backpack to operate.
