Approximate size:  22 mm.
Condition:  Good, excavated, shank missing.  This fine button is loaded with gilt and has no pushes, cracks, or repairs.  Excellent display piece.

Backmark:  "U. S. / ORDNANCE CORPS" dm
Construction:  Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size:  21 mm.
Condition:  Good, excavated, secure shank present.  While it is missing approximately 1/2 of its rim, it is still a solid example.  This very pretty button is covered in gilt and has no pushes, cracks, or repairs.  The missing portion of its rim is not visible while looking at the button's face making this button an excellent display piece.

Approximate size:  21 mm.
Condition:  Fair, excavated, shank missing.  This button has a very pleasing lime green patina.  The surface is very smooth and the button will be an excellent display piece.

Construction:  Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size:  15 mm.
Condition:  Very good, excavated, secure shank present.  This nice button has a brown patina and no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.  Though these buttons were made for the Mexican war, they are occasionally recovered in Civil War sites, this is one of those rare finds.

Construction:  High convex, three-piece.
Approximate size:  22 mm.
Condition:  Very good, excavated, secure shank present.  Though this fully intact excavated button still hasn't been fully rinsed off, it shows excellent detail with no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.  These pre-Civil War manufactured buttons were intended for use by officers of Maryland militia units who, generally sided with the south, but served on both sides of the war.

Construction:  Highly convex, three-piece.
Approximate size:  15 mm.
Condition:  Good, excavated, secure shank present.  The face of this button has some gilt with mild ground action.  The button has no pushes or repairs but the rim has some minor ground action cracks.

                 44 Excavated Miscellaneous Buttons

These 44 excavated buttons consist of plain buttons, flat buttons, flower buttons,  and other assorted fancy buttons.  These examples are all typical of what diggers find while hunting in known Civil War camps, trails, and battlefields.  Some are one-piece and some are two-piece.  A couple examples are missing their backs but the majority have their shanks.  Several have interesting designs and gilt, and sizes range from 10 to 28 mm in diameter.  These button will be an excellent addition to any excavated button collection.   $95.00   Order Information  or  Questions?
