30 Pounder Parrott Shell

Item: US 4.2 inch (30 pounder) Parrott common shell.
Construction: Cast iron with brass sabot (now missing)
Fuzing: Percussion fuze present.
Approximate size: Weight: 24.8 pounds. Diameter: 4.1 inches. Length: 12-1/4 inches.
Condition: Very good, excavated, with overall light pitting and no repairs. The shell has been deactivated.
Recovered: Richmond, VA area.
Comments: This artillery shell will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
