Artillery Shrapnel and Canister Shot - Bartow, WV

This excavated 4.5 inch spherical shell fragment and canister shot were recovered from the Bartow, WV area. It was here that a small battle occurred on October 3, 1861 and was then known as "Camp Bartow" which was situated along the Greenbrier River. The shell fragment measures approximately .73 x 2.8 x 2.4 inches and weighs approximately 1.2 pounds. The canister's diameter measures approximately .66 inches and weighs approximately .5 ounces. These two relics will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
