Austrian Lorenze Bayonet

Item: Austrian Lorenze Bayonet
Construction: Cast iron.
Condition: Very good, early pick-up. This bayonet is solidly intact with only very slight surface rusting. The locking ring with screw are present. The outer end of the socket is slightly out of round but otherwise it has no bends, breaks, repairs, or any other issues.
Recovered: Antietam, MD
Approximate size: 21 7/8 inches overall length. Socket length is 3-3/16 inches
Comments: These distinctive bayonets have four sides and an example can be found in the "Weapons and Equipment" section of Howard Crouch's reference book, "Civil War Artifacts" on page 77, item #4. This bayonet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War weapon or general relic collection.
