Camp Carved Cubes - Possible Dice

SOLD

These excavated camp carved lead cubes were acquired directly from the digger who recovered them decades ago in an area occupied by the 35th Georgia Camp French in Evansport, VA during the winter of 1861-1862. Occasionally bullet lead carvings are recovered with plain whittle marks or, in rare instances, intricate carvings, hand-crafted by soldiers using their pocket knives just to pass the time. In this case bullet lead was carved into two cubes, similar in size and shape of a small pair of dice. Both have dull white patina and measure approximately 1/2 inch. They will be an excellent addition to any excavated carved Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
