Item: Colt paper cartridge, .44 caliber
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated. The bullet itself has a strong mold seam and a grey patina. While the paper cartridge shows shrinkage, it has no cracks, holes, breaks, or repairs.
Comments: This cartridge is described in Thomas' "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Three" as "Combustible paper cartridge for 2nd and 3rd Model "Dragoons" or "old model" Holster pilstol, "Colt's Cartridge Works"." It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cartridge, bullet, or general relic collection.
Approximate size: 1.54 inch length.
