Item: Confederate Artillery Coat Button - Richmond Manufacturer
Backmark: "E. M. LEWIS & CO. / RICHMOND VA." rmdc
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Fair, excavated, shank missing. The button has a reddish-brown patina. The front has a significant push to its center. The back mark is visible. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA
Reference: Tice: CSA240A1 Albert: CS 116A
Comments: This artillery coat button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
