Item: Confederate Cavalry Coat Button - Lined "C"
Backmark: Blank
Design: Lined roman "C" on a plain field.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, shank present. Overall brown patina with moderate pushes to front. The front has no cracks or breaks. The rear was pushed at its shank resulting in damage to the area directly around the area where the shank meets the back. The shank is still secure to the back with very slight movement. The button has no repairs.
Recovered: From an old home site in the Scottsville area of Albemarle County, VA. Scottsville was part of "Sheridan's Raid" in March of 1865.

Comments: This Confederate cavalry coat button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
