Item: Confederate Infantry Button - Richmond Backmark
Backmark: "E.M.L & C. RICHMOND. VA." rmdc
Construction: Medium convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present, solid button. Very nice chocolate brown patina. A very small portion of the rim which overlaps the button's back, is missing. There are no pushes or repairs.
Recovered: Orange County, VA

Comments: These Richmond back marked buttons are among my favorites and this very handsome example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
