Comments: According to "Confederate Paper Money", by Grover C. Criswell, in the "Confederate Counterfeits" section, page 244,
"Counterfeiters played a marginal role in the collapse of the Confederacy's financial structure. In quality, their products ranged from notes based on crude woodcuts created by newspaper and magazine artists to exquisite copies that almost defy detection.......many of the counterfeit notes which were produced during the Civil War somehow survived and provide a fascinating field of study in themselves. These contemporary notes should not be confused with the many reproductions which have been produced in recent years and which were sold in souvenir stands or given away as premiums by breakfast cereal makers. Such notes, although interesting, have no place in serious numismatics."
This Confederate "counterfeit" ten dollar note will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection.
