Confederate Twenty Dollar Note - 1862 Cut Cancelled

This original cut canceled Confederate twenty dollar note is in very good condition, is dated December 2, 1862, and printed by "Keatinge & Ball. Columbia, S.C.". The note is hand numbered and was issued showing the Tennessee state capitol in the middle. Confederate Vice-President Alexander Stephens is pictured in the lower right hand corner. Printed on the note is "THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA / Will pay TWENTY DOLLARS to the bearer on demand. / Richmond, December 2nd..1862". Printed on the center rear with a blue ink background are the roman numerals "XX" with circular medallions to either side containing the numeral "20". The paper is crisp with nearly complete borders, and shows minor discoloration. This handsome note will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection. Ref. Criswell T-51.
