Camp Cooking Ladle Strainer

SOLD

This camp cooking ladle strainer was recovered from a CSA campsite in Dinwiddie County, VA. Constructed of iron, it measures approximately 14-1/2 inches in length with the strainer measuring 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It is complete with the exception of a portion of its strainer. A very light layer of clear coat was applied at some point so as to preserve it. The device is stable and ready to display.

A similar example can be found in in the following Civil War relic reference book:

  • "Excavated Artifacts from Battlefields and Campsites of The Civil War" by Stanley S. Phillip, page 144, item 1.

See the above page in the additional images.

This relic was recently acquired directly from the digger's family. The digger thoughtfully maintained a record of each relic he recovered. He hunted private property, with permission of the land owner, that included Civil War trails, campsites, and battle sites throughout central Virginia and adjacent states for several decades. This cooking ladle strainer will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War campsite or general relic collection.
