Comments:  This buckle's provenance is detailed in a document signed and dated by Mr. Haes which is pictured in the additional images. In this document Mr. Haes offers his thoughts as to how the Great Shahola Train Wreck led to the recovery of this buckle in a Monroe County, PA creek bed. Also included is another document which is signed and dated by the restorer, Mr. Leonard Short. In this document, Mr. Short authenticates the buckle and acknowledges his restoration work to the buckle. He also shows the "before and after" images of the buckle and describes, in detail, the buckles condition. Mr. Short is highly regarded in the Civil War relic collecting community as one of the best relic conservators. Both of these documents are laminated and will be included. Images of both documents are included in the additional images of this buckle. This CS rope border belt buckle is a phenomenal find and will be the centerpiece of any Civil War buckle, plate or general relic collection.
