Eagle Plate - Non-Excavated

SOLD

Item: Non-excavated US eagle plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill and iron wire loops.
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated. Its brass face has aged into a semi-dull brass patina on a well-defined eagle, clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left. The rear has a full complement of solder with both iron attachment loops.  The plate does exhibit general wear and tear, and minor bending from period use, but otherwise has no cracks, breaks, repairs, or major bends.
Approximate diameter: 64 mm.
Precise distance between loops: 50.74 mm (1.99 inches)
Comments:  This plate will be an excellent addition to any Civil War period US cartridge box sling needing a plate with good solid loops or simply displayed in any Civil War plate or general collection.
