Eagle Plate

Item: Excavated US eagle plate.
Construction:
Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition:
Good, excavated. Its brass face has a green-brown patina covering a raised eagle, clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left.  There are remnants of the rear solder which is pebbled  and the two iron attachment loops are no longer present.  The brass front has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs. 
Recovered:
Remington/Brandy Station, VA area.
Approximate diameter:
 64 mm.
Comments:
  This eagle breast plate will be an excellent display piece and addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
