Eagle Plate

SOLD

Item: Excavated US Eagle Plate
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Fair. The brass face is believed to have deep green patina which is still coated with Culpeper County soil. A little over half of the rim is complete with the remaining portion showing edge wear. The soil covered rear lead is nearly complete, however the wire attachment loops are missing. The plate has not been cleaned or repaired.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA
Approximate size: about 63 mm (diameter varies slightly due to condition)
Comments: The plate is being offered in nearly the same state that it was in when it was recovered, as the digger did not feel compelled to clean his relics. If you like the recently "dug" appearance, then this relic will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
