Eagle Plate in Georgia Soil - Excellent Display

SOLD

This excavated Federal eagle plate was recovered in Georgia many years ago. When recovered the digger kept a sample of the Georgia soil that it was recovered in and created a unique display. The plate shows a detailed eagle, clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left. It is complete with both attachment loops and the majority of its now pebbled solder in the rear. The brass face of the plate now has a yellow-brown patina with no cracks, bends, or repairs. The plate's brass rim has some chipping and there is a small raised rust bump just below the olive branch. This eagle plate with its Georgia soil will be an excellent display piece for any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
