Item: Federal 3 Inch Type I Dyer Case-Shot
Construction: Cast iron with a solder Dyer paper time fuze adaptor and zinc alloy cup sabot.
Approximate size: Weight: 9.8 pounds. Diameter: 2.93 inches. Length: 7 2/16 inches.
Condition: Very good, excavated. The iron is stable, shows moderate pitting, and may have been lightly clear coated years ago. The solder paper time fuze adaptor and zinc alloy cup sabot are both present. The four cast-in flame grooves are visible in the sabot. This case shot has been professionally deactivated and has not been repaired.
Comments: This Federal artillery case-shot will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery, battlefield, or general relic collection.
