Item: Federal Cavalry Coat Button
Backmark: Present, but unclear.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. The brass has a chocolate brown patina with areas of green, and there is just enough gilt remaining on this fine cavalry button to high-light the eagle, its shield, and letter "C". It has no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Approximate size: 20 mm.
Recovered: During the 1970's from the Petersburg, VA area.
