Item: Gallager Carbine Cartridge by Thomas Poultney
Caliber: .50
Construction: Paper and brass foil cartridge.
Condition: Very good, non-excavated. The bullet has a white-grey patina with minor surface flaking. The case is missing approximately half of the paper wrap, otherwise it is complete and does not appear to have any dents, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Approximate size: .50 inch diameter and 2.08 inch length.
Reference: Thomas' RBTR Part Two, p. 113 sp. 432.
Comments: Poultney's (Crispin/straight seam) Patent #40,988 / December 15, 1863 / Paper & Foil. This cartridge will be an excellent addition to any non-excavated Civil War cartridge, bullet, or general relic collection.
