Hotchkiss Base and Enfield Bullet - Bartow, WV

This excavated Federal 2.94 inch Hotchkiss shell base cup and fired .577 caliber Enfield bullet were recovered from the Bartow, WV area. It was here that a small battle occurred on October 3, 1861 and was then known as "Camp Bartow" which was situated along the Greenbrier River. The base cup diameter measures approximately 2.9 inches and its height is approximately 1.6 inches. It weighs approximately 1.2 pounds. These two relics will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
