Liberty Braided Hair Cent Dated 1843

SOLD

This excavated Liberty braided hair cent, aka "big penny", dated 1843, is in fair condition and was recovered in the area of Dinwiddie County, VA. Dinwiddie County was the site of six Civil War battles, five of which occurred between March 29 and April 2, 1865.  The coin, with its brown patina, has minimal ground action and wear. On one edge of the coin is a small ding as can be seen in the additional images, otherwise, it has no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated pre-Civil War coin, campsite, soldier personal item, or general relic collection.
