Condition: Excellent, excavated. The bullet has an overall white surface patina.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA.
Approximate size: .38 inch. diameter x .53 inch. length.
Reference: Thomas RBTR Part III: 1061 / M&M: 164 (listed as .38 cal.)
Comments:  According to the Dean Thomas reference book, Round Ball to Rimfire, Part III, these cast one groove bullets were designed by John Walch of Walch Firearms, Company of New York City. "The earliest Walch revolvers believed to be the .36 cal. Navy Model and were made for Walch about 1859/60 by the J. P. Lindsay Manufacturing Company in Naugatuck, Connecticut. As few as two hundred were produced."
