Little Round Top Photograph - September 17, 1899

SOLD

This original black and white photograph is of two gentlemen posing by the statue of Gouverneur K. Warren, Chief Engineer, Army of the Potomac on Little Round Top in Gettysburg, PA. It is mounted on black card stock, measuring approximately 5-3/8 x 6-3/4, that is embossed in the lower right hand corner with the name and address of "W. H. Tilston (sp?) 3 Main St. Gettysburg. PA." In one corner on the rear of the card is very lightly penciled "Gettysburg Sept. 17, 1899" presumably indicating the date that the photo was taken. The bronze statue of Warren was erected approximately ten years prior to that date. The photo, measuring approximately 4 x 5-1/2 inches has an approximate 5/8 inch tear at its top and a 2 inch scar on the left side running from top to mid-photo. There is a hole in the top of the card where it was likely pinned to a wall along with other small marks along its top edge and lower left edge corner. In the lower right corner of the photo is printed “5622 / Little Round Top.” This original photo of two men posing by a Gettysburg Civil War landmark will be an excellent addition to any Civil War battlefield or general relic collection.
