Condition: Used, worn, fair condition. Overall wear and tear with page yellowing and some staining. Front and rear panels slightly warped with top and bottom corner edge wear. Top and bottom spine extreme is worn.
Comments: This hardcover book, published 1888, is one of two princple works on colonial silver plate. It consist of 82 illustrations. See the enlargement image, to the left of this description, of the book's table of contents to see the vast array of information covered on this topic. What is interesting about this particular copy is the fact that it appears to have been in the author's own library. The front panel pastedown endpaper has two bookplates. The top plate reads "EX LIBRIS JOHN H. BVCK" (sic), presumably, the author J. H. Buck. The bottom plate reads "KEEP KNOCKING / TRAYLOR / ROBERT LEE TRAYLOR / RICHMOND, VIRGINIA,".At the top of the title page, in ink, is the name "Robert Lee Traylor" and the date "May 31st 1902" with the signature of "J H Buck." underneath. On the same page appears to be the signature of Robert Lee Traylor and the date "June 3rd 1902." This reference book will be an excellent addition to any library for anyone who collects old silver plate.
