Confederate One Dollar Richmond Virginia Treasury Note

This Confederate one dollar Richmond Virginia treasury note was issued by the Virginia state government July 21, 1862. Printed on the note is "VIRGINIA TREASURY NOTE / The Commonwealth of Virginia will pay ONE DOLLAR to bearer on demand at the Treasury. / RICHMOND ". The note depicts John Letcher, Virginia Governor, at left, Ceres seated, at center, black print, on plain paper, red overlay with "ONE" and "1" shown twice, plain back. Date is printed, serial number of "120229" is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed. Printing: "HOYER & LUDWIG, RICHd ". It is in fair condition with pinholes, edge tears, creases, and is soft. This handsome note will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection.
